Hetzner vs Amazon AWS

I am often asked to recommend a server provider with which customers can host WordPress in conjunction with spinupwp. While DigitalOcean can be compared to companies like AWS and Google Cloud (because they appeal to very different audiences), I will compare virtual server providers. This is by no means an exhaustive list of server vendors, as there are hundreds of them, but I have covered some of the most popular such as Hetner, Hyper - V and OpenStack.

For this reason, I will look at which provider is best suited to host WordPress on a single server, without taking into account the managed databases. The next generation of cheap clouds are DigitalOcean and Linode, and both vendors are used by many of the world's largest cloud providers such as Amazon AWS and Google Cloud.

Linode suffered significant downtime last month, similar to last year. The outage was due to a major DDoS attack targeting customers running Linode.

Hetzner Online offers shared web hosting, managed servers and cloud computing services. There is a wide range of hosting options, from private and public cloud to private cloud and hybrid cloud.

All Hetzner online data centre projects are coordinated internally and implemented with as little outsourcing as possible. Each data center unit is served by multiple redundant uplinks, including a backbone setup and multiple data centers at the same location. All our data centers and projects are implemented and coordinated internally, As little or no outsourcing of them as possible.

However, by using our own data center infrastructure and infrastructure management tools, we can close a gap between ourselves and DigitalOcean and the other two server providers.

CPU, which is much higher compared to the other two vendors, but still not as fast as DigitalOcean. We look at the three leading IAAS providers that make up the bulk of the market: Amazon, Google Cloud and AWS. Amazon Lightsail serves our queries 30% faster than Digital Ocean, closely followed by GoogleCloud, which is 30% faster than the second most popular provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

AWS has been available since 2006 and has developed massively, but Azure and GCP are suitable for their age and also meet our technical requirements.

There are many ways to use Kubernetes, and the simplest is certainly to simply use a managed Kubernetes service. Terraform happens to have a provider like Hetzner Cloud and one like Rancher, but it is worth noting that of the three providers that support Docker container services, GCP has the most robust offering. With Ansible in Terraforming, a provisional is integrated that can be installed manually. The most popular is the AWS Container Service (AWS - Container Service) and there are many others.

This service allows you to spin a cluster in a few minutes with a few clicks, but it is a bit expensive out of pocket as it is only charged per employee.

The reason why dedicated servers are now so cheap is that AWS gives you the ability to manage your own mini data center, which is much easier to use than adding many data centers at an extra cost. With every mention of Hetzner Cloud, there is usually a difference of about $1,000 to $2,500 per month, but compared to other providers, the difference is even greater.

When comparing a dedicated server with an AWS instance, you really should consider all the additional services that AWS provides with the server instance and assign them to the dedicated price and disregard them. There has been a shift in pricing, but the process of adding AWS EC2 and Amazon Lightsail to spinupwp is not quite as streamlined as DigitalOcean. With AWS, data centers use lagging to sell their services and holler about cost - the effectiveness of the data center and the ability to add as many instances as possible from a customized provider.

Google Cloud is similar to AWS in that it offers a full range of cloud products, but it is not as straightforward as DigitalOcean or Amazon Lightsail. While Google Cloud is not as simple as deploying AWS EC2 instances in an AWS instance, it is just as easy to deploy as a dedicated server in Google's cloud.

Prices for Google Cloud are much higher than for other services, but they are still much cheaper than AWS and DigitalOcean.

I have always shied away from using AWS for anything other than S3 and Cloudfront, but the sheer volume of AWS services makes it difficult to know which service to use for a particular use case. AWS and Google Cloud have expanded to other cloud services, and both have recently introduced managed databases.

In contrast to most dedicated server providers, Hetzner needs one hour to one day to set up and commission the machine.

The various Word2Vec implementations are trained on cloud platforms with different instances. GCE is one of the cheaper, as the virtual instances are delivered on the cloud platform. Dedicated servers perform significantly better in terms of pro-rata costs compared to virtual machines, as they are billed monthly and do not have an hourly option.
